Restoring Mies Abstract by Krueck & Sexton Architects:
In recent years, Krueck Sexton, a firm known primarily for its award-winning contemporary commissions, has developed a parallel expertise in restoring and renovating Mid-Century buildings and structures. Among the firm’s most significant restoration projects are the three buildings by the noted 20th Century architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe: Crown Hall, the School of Social Services Administration and 860-880 Lake Shore Drive. Restoring Mies: A Case Study outlines the challenges and successes in bring the life and spirit back to these important buildings. It includes “A Conversation with Ron and Mark” in which they specifically answer key questions on restoration philosophy and pragmatics.
