Sanjay Puri Architects presents Zen Spaces, a magnificent 27,000 sqft home located in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. This architectural marvel seamlessly integrates with its surroundings, offering a unique living experience. Let’s delve into the details of this four-level residence that harmonizes nature and architecture.
Blurring Boundaries
Zen Spaces challenges conventional distinctions between indoor and outdoor spaces. The design, executed by Sanjay Puri Architects, skillfully merges the home with the existing landscape. The strategic positioning on a large plot, with existing trees retained, creates a symbiotic relationship between the house and nature.
Multi-Generational Living
Built to accommodate three generations, the house features a subterranean level with a sunken courtyard, a ground floor, a first floor, and a second floor. Each level serves a distinct purpose, fostering a sense of togetherness while respecting individual privacy.
Innovative Design for Climate Challenges
Jaipur’s climate, with scorching summers and mild winters, posed a unique challenge. The architects responded with ingenious solutions, including winter and summer decks. These outdoor spaces provide year-round comfort for family gatherings, offering shelter from extreme temperatures.
GFRC screens on the east, west, and south sides control heat gain and enhance privacy, drawing inspiration from Jaipur’s traditional stone screens. The house incorporates sustainable practices such as water recycling, rainwater harvesting, and a solar water heating system, aligning with modern eco-friendly standards.
Craftsmanship and Material Selection
The interior of Zen Spaces reflects meticulous craftsmanship and thoughtful material choices. Neutral shades dominate the palette, with locally sourced materials such as fly ash bricks and Indowud—a rice husk eco-friendly wood substitute. Custom-made furniture by local artisans and lime plaster walls contribute to a sustainable and culturally rooted design.
Conclusion
Zen Spaces stands as a testament to the innovative spirit of Sanjay Puri Architects. From its seamless integration with nature to its eco-friendly features, this home in Jaipur offers a living experience that transcends the ordinary. As it lights up at night, revealing its sculptural volumes, Zen Spaces becomes a beacon of harmonious living in the heart of Rajasthan.
