Garoy Construction, a prominent construction firm in Quebec City, Canada, has partnered with Perron, an innovative interior design studio, to create an exceptional office space on Saint-Anne Boulevard. The collaboration aims to showcase Garoy Construction’s expertise while providing a refreshing and colorful environment for both employees and clients. This article explores the unique architectural design concept implemented by Perron, emphasizing the captivating features and the seamless integration of aesthetics and functionality.

Aesthetic Excellence and Functional Spaces

The new three-story building, spanning over 18,000 sq. ft., was meticulously designed to accommodate approximately 100 employees. Perron successfully crafted a variety of spaces to cater to the administrative, estimation, and on-site teams. The workspaces encompass dedicated closed offices, open-plan workrooms, meeting rooms, and conference rooms, ensuring optimal functionality for different tasks.

Upon entering the building, visitors are greeted by double-height ceilings, creating a welcoming and majestic ambiance. The reception area features a cantilevered volume above the reception desk, giving an impression of floating lightness. The architectural design thoughtfully highlights Garoy Construction’s expertise by showcasing the building’s mechanics, custom concrete formwork, exposed wood structure, and colored steel beams.

Designing for Post-Pandemic Times

In response to the evolving work landscape, Perron incorporated elements to make the new offices more appealing than remote work options. The design team leveraged natural light by incorporating light and glazed surfaces throughout the office space. Soft, rounded shapes were strategically integrated to break the orthogonal nature of the plan, while vibrant colors were used to energize the different areas, fostering a lively atmosphere.

Spectacular River Views and Thoughtful Details

One of the remarkable aspects of Garoy Construction’s new offices is the breathtaking views of the St. Lawrence River. The common spaces and open-plan divisions were carefully designed around these views, allowing ample natural light to penetrate the heart of the building. The kitchen and outdoor terrace face the river, providing employees with a rejuvenating panorama. The attention to detail during the two-year design process ensured harmonious communication between different spaces, despite the abundance of glass walls.

Perron’s design incorporates various artistic elements that reflect the daily life of a general contractor. Triangular ceramics adorn the kitchen, while square grids create visual interest in the café area. Emerald green glass cube windows add a touch of vibrancy to the overall aesthetic. The office space also features a mural of construction helmets and custom wallpaper displaying Garoy’s world through illustrated icons, further strengthening the connection to the company’s identity.

Elegance, Conviviality, and Interaction

Perron carefully selected furniture from renowned Quebec companies such as Rouillard for the office furniture and Lambert et Fils for the lighting. The inclusion of MUUTO Scandinavian furniture adds an international touch to the space. The colorful, technological, and adjustable furniture not only exudes elegance but also fosters a convivial atmosphere, encouraging interaction among employees.

The third floor of the building boasts recreational spaces, including a golf simulator, a training room, a kitchen island designed to bring people together, and a multi-purpose room that opens onto the kitchen. These areas provide ample opportunities for relaxation, team building, and hosting events, ensuring a dynamic and engaging living environment.

The collaboration between Garoy Construction and Perron has resulted in the creation of bright, welcoming, and vibrant office spaces. Perron’s exceptional design concept skillfully highlights Garoy Construction’s expertise while offering a refreshing experience for employees and clients alike. From the captivating architectural elements to the thoughtful integration of colors, textures, and shapes, the new offices exemplify the harmonious blend of aesthetics and functionality. Garoy Construction’s new office space on Saint-Anne Boulevard stands as a testament to the successful collaboration between these two innovative companies, creating an environment that inspires creativity, collaboration, and productivity.
