Shaping a New Narrative for Post-Pandemic Work Environments

In the heart of the bustling DIX30 commercial lifestyle community on Montreal’s South Shore, INDESIGN / Conrath architecte has unveiled a groundbreaking design for UNIVESTA’s satellite office, marking a paradigm shift in reimagining workspaces in the post-pandemic era.

1. Visionary Collaboration for a New Era

From the inception of the project in 2021, INDESIGN / Conrath architecte collaborated closely with UNIVESTA to craft a 750m² office space that transcends traditional norms. Faced with the challenges posed by COVID-19, the design reflects a profound reconsideration of conventional workspaces, challenging the need for large, centralized offices. UNIVESTA seized the opportunity to transform disruption into innovation.

2. Spatial Ingenuity and Material Harmony

With an emphasis on spatial design and materiality, the design team embarked on a journey to create a space that not only beckons UNIVESTA’s employees back but also stands as a testament to the company’s forward-thinking approach in recruitment. The strategic location within the DIX30 community, enriched by a new urban REM tramway, adds a layer of connectivity and underscores the project’s strategic significance.

3. Harmonizing Vastness: A Captivating Design Approach

Situated atop a building housing an art performance center, the UNIVESTA office is characterized by high ceilings and panoramic views of the Montreal skyline. To counteract the potential vastness, the design team introduced a central nucleus featuring workstations and small meeting rooms. A suspended 2m x 45m graphic installation serves as the pièce de résistance, seamlessly blending interior and exterior views, creating a captivating near-far duality.

4. Well-being Woven into Design: A Holistic Approach

Beyond functionality, UNIVESTA has placed employee well-being at the core of the DIX30 project. The office design incorporates gathering rooms on the mezzanine level and an outdoor balcony, fostering a sense of community. This holistic approach ensures spaces for knowledge sharing, dining, group celebrations, and connections with nature, reinforcing UNIVESTA’s commitment to providing an inspiring and welcoming environment.

Led by a talented design team including Jonathan Conrath, Veniamin Chukhovich, Gary Michael Conrath, and Martine Maksud, in collaboration with UNIVESTA project manager Eric de la Sablonnière, the UNIVESTA DIX30 satellite office represents a bold step forward in reimagining the workplace. It successfully marries wellness and productivity, further enhanced by its proximity to the vibrant DIX30 community. UNIVESTA’s commitment to innovation shines through, setting a new standard for the intersection of architecture and employee experience in the modern era.
