The challenge for Concrete was clear: integrate two contrasting styles—van Eyck’s playful geometry and MVRDV’s sleek, glass-dominated structure—into one cohesive space. They succeeded by focusing on human scale. The wooden landscape, which spans the length of the atrium, mirrors van Eyck’s angular forms on one side while following the gentle slope of the adjacent highway on the other. This creates a dynamic space that feels both inviting and expansive.
