Designed to anticipate the rising urban living in the next 40 years, Chris Jacobs has proposed a futuristic Vertical Farm. The farm that will be built vertically instead of horizontal expansion, will take a place in the center of the city.
An entirely new approach to indoor farming must be invented, employing cutting edge technologies. The Vertical Farm must be efficient (cheap to construct and safe to operate). Vertical farms, many stories high, will be situated in the heart of the world’s urban centers.

Actually…this video isn’t really a vertical farm, but more a living and working space with indoor hydroponic systems that grow food. It could be considered a vertical farm…but was developed prior to the vertical farm movement starting with the New York Magazine Article about it. It’s a beautiful structure that inspired my designs at http://www.chrisjacobs.com. The video was developed by Atelier SoA Architectes, 101 rue damrmont, 75018 Paris…it’s not quite fair for this post to give me credit. I should only be credited for bringing the idea of a vertical farm to the forefront with the many articles written about it after the NYmag article… http://nymag.com/news/features/30020/ written by Lisa Chamberlin.
