Simon, a company with over a century of history, has reimagined its old factory in Poble Nou into a cutting-edge global headquarters. Named SWITCH, this project is not just a renovation but a significant milestone in sustainable and thoughtful architectural design.
Preserving the Industrial Heritage
The project, led by the renowned b720 Fermín Vázquez Arquitectos, revolves around a central idea: to preserve the essence of the original industrial building while adapting it to meet modern needs. The old factory, a concrete structure from the late 20th century, has been given a new lease on life without losing its historical charm. Instead of erasing the past, the architects chose to highlight it, carefully repairing and maintaining the building’s reinforced concrete grid. This approach creates a striking contrast between the old and new elements, giving the structure a unique identity that honors its industrial roots.
