The design of District of Concepción is chosen in 2001 from he National Competition of Architecture which held by the Public Works Ministry in Chile.
The project occupies an intermediary site between the old city born after the earthquake of 1939, and the new, to be built along the shores of the BÃo-BÃo River, which until recently were occupied by train lines. At both ends of the elderly train station were proposed four pairs of buildings in the direction of the river to the city.
