The QATAR Science and Technology Park, in Doha, designed by Woods Bagot, is part of a series of large scale buildings which were established to encourage creativity and knowledge, placing Qatar on the route of scientific research worldwide.
The approach to this set of buildings, is ruled by a cover structure which reinterprets the shapes of the desert and symbolically links the different volumes.
The buildings adequate themselves to rigorous desert climate and culture of Qatar as the articulation of interior spaces is made with high versatility. The constant dialogue with the natural light and some natural materials used, results in rich and colorful spaces where the play of transparencies of double facades plays a key role for thermal comfort.
This complex of buildings that represent an important cultural symbol, have the ambition to transform Qatar into one of the most advanced countries of the world in upcoming decades.
