Led by Pargade Architectes, this new center for the GHU Paris Centre Hospitalier Sainte-Anne builds on the storied history of the hospital, originally designed by architect Charles Auguste Questel in the 19th century. Known for its contributions to mental health and as a pioneering site in hospital architecture, Sainte-Anne Hospital now enters a new era, balancing the traditions of its neoclassical roots with forward-thinking facility design.

Architecture Rooted in Functionality and Flexibility

The new Neuroscience Center is more than a structural addition; it’s a reimagining of how healthcare spaces can function to meet complex medical needs. The building spans 15,500 square meters and is designed with flexibility at its core. By adopting a modular, multi-purpose floor plan, the center accommodates a range of hospital needs—from four operating rooms to spaces dedicated to electroconvulsive therapy, an imaging department, and facilities for 135 in-patient beds. This adaptable approach allows the hospital to shift spaces as needs evolve, ensuring that the center remains responsive to the changing landscape of neuroscience and mental health treatment.

Earning the E+C- label (Energy 3, Carbon 1), the facility integrates solar panels across the site, minimizing its carbon footprint.
