Project explanation of KBY Single Family House by no.555 Architectural Design Office:
The site is located in the residential area in Fukushima Prefecture. The site is faced to a narrow road and the land is stepped down towards the north side. By designing a house with maintain the sky view, it is tried to reform the tight neighbour environment. Half of the house where the supporting soil is weak is buried under the basement, the house looks 1st story building from the façade. As a result, the blue open sky can be seen at the site.
Three voids with different height was inserted in the closed façade for taking light into the house effectively. By using the building geometric feature with sticks to the ground, the heating equipment was buried under the ground by using a natural thermal storage belt and secure a steady indoor condition with saving the energy expenditure.
