Gearbox, the powerhouse in the video game industry, has unveiled its latest masterpiece: a cutting-edge studio in Montreal. Teaming up with Patriarche, an augmented architecture agency, Gearbox has created a workspace that marries functionality with flair, setting a new standard in office design. Let’s take a closer look at this exciting project.

1. The Fusion of Design and Innovation

The Gearbox Montreal studio isn’t just any office space—it’s a testament to the marriage of design and innovation. Patriarche, renowned for its bold approach, has once again pushed the boundaries to craft a space that is as visually stunning as it is functional. The studio’s unique layout, with its elongated floor plan, presented a challenge that Patriarche met head-on. By playing with color contrasts and creating distinct ambiances, they’ve not only enlivened the space but also made navigation intuitive for team members.

2. Functional Diversity at its Finest

One of the standout features of the Gearbox studio is its functional diversity. With 208 open-space workstations, 11 enclosed offices, 12 meeting rooms, and 11 lounge areas, every corner of the studio serves a purpose. Whether you need a quiet space to focus, a collaborative environment to brainstorm ideas, or a cozy nook to unwind, Gearbox Montreal has it all. This meticulous attention to detail ensures that every team member has an environment conducive to productivity and well-being.

3. Artistic Inspiration and Quirky Details

Drawing inspiration from Montreal’s Old Port neighborhood, the studio’s design pays homage to the city’s urban energy and industrial heritage. Street art influences and nods to 90s pop culture add a touch of nostalgia and vibrancy to the space. But it’s not just about aesthetics—every detail tells a story. From stools resembling tree trunks to a colossal meeting table with wooden branch legs, the eclectic furniture injects a sense of originality and whimsy into the studio. Quirky details, like the “shower” curtain reclaimed from a welding workshop, add an unexpected twist, sparking curiosity and conversation among team members.

4. A Thought-Provoking Collaboration

Central to the studio’s design is a thought-provoking collaboration with artist Julien Lebargy. His work, “Little Boy Bomb,” prompts reflection on our relationship with war, serving as the centerpiece of the project. This fusion of art and design creates a stimulating environment where creativity and innovation thrive. By seamlessly integrating art into the workspace, Gearbox Montreal fosters a culture of inspiration and introspection, pushing boundaries and challenging perspectives.

In conclusion, Gearbox’s Montreal studio is more than just a place to work—it’s a testament to the power of design to inspire, innovate, and ignite creativity. With Patriarche at the helm, Gearbox has created a workspace that not only reflects their commitment to excellence but also sets a new standard for office design in the video game industry. As team members step into this immersive environment, they’re greeted not only by the latest technology but also by a sense of wonder and possibility. Gearbox Montreal is not just a studio—it’s a work of art.
