In the bustling heart of Broadgate, London, a new chapter in workspace design has unfolded, courtesy of the innovative minds at SpaceInvader. Their latest project for Aldermore, a financial institution with deep roots in African culture through its parent company, FirstRand Group, has unveiled a stunning 25,683 sq ft office space. Drawing inspiration from the rich and diverse landscapes of Africa, the design team embarked on a journey to create a workspace that not only fosters productivity but also celebrates the continent’s vibrant heritage.
Infusing African Essence into Urban Chic
The project’s cornerstone lies in the seamless integration of African influences into a contemporary urban setting. Embracing the client’s vision of promoting team wellbeing and modern working practices, SpaceInvader embarked on a mission to infuse the workspace with elements inspired by Africa’s dramatic landscapes. From the sweeping savannahs to the mystical allure of the Sahara Desert, each corner of the office tells a unique story, weaving together colors, textures, and forms reminiscent of the continent’s rich tapestry.
Sustainability: A Commitment to Ethical Design

SpaceInvader’s approach focused on optimizing the existing fit-out, minimizing waste, and repurposing materials wherever possible. Surplus furniture found new homes through innovative initiatives like the Waste to Wonder program, embodying the project’s ethos of mindful consumption and resourcefulness.
