HJGHER shared with us their work for Eclecticism, a multi-label boutique situated at the heart of Orchard Road, the retail district of Singapore. More texts and images from the architects follow the break.
They carry an array of international feminine brands with varying styles. Besides acknowledging the boutique’s whimsical approach towards fashion, design elements were introduced to create harmony between its labels.Â
It was intended that customers are greeted by the boutique’s glorious collection of womenswear upon entering the shop. Garments were hung from varying heights by two large gold metal rings made of stainless steel with a mirror finish. The rings were made to resemble roller coaster rails, inspired by circus and carnivals. Individual hooks have been drilled into the rings to hang the garments.Â
To reinforce fun and play, its furniture were given an unconventional finish, such as three distinct emerald shaped gems were utilized to create shelving units for accessories. These shapes were also painted on the walls in soft hues.Â
Finally, an array of Ferruccio Laviani table lamps were converted and strung from the ceiling for a grand finish.Â
