This compact 570-square-foot apartment in Kowloon has been reimagined by Adrian Chan Design and Research Office to balance functionality with subtle elegance. The design showcases a striking undulating wall that not only captivates the eye but also binds the space together.

The Undulating Wall: A Seamless Flow

At the heart of the design is the curving wall that runs from the kitchen, through the corridor, and into the bedroom. This flowing element acts as a natural guide, directing movement throughout the apartment while cleverly integrating various systems. The wall conceals a bathroom, storage, and mechanical components, demonstrating how a single design feature can serve multiple purposes and create a cohesive atmosphere for everyday living.

Smart Storage Solutions: Horizontal and Beyond

Storage in small spaces is always a challenge. Here, the project introduces the concept of “horizontal” cabinetry alongside the traditional vertical units. By tapping into otherwise empty wall spaces, these custom-built cabinets help create the illusion of a larger area while offering horizontal cabinetry that maximizes space.
