LemayMichaud, the acclaimed architectural powerhouse, unveils its groundbreaking design masterpiece at the heart of Quebec City – the iconic offices of Fasken. Honored with the prestigious Interior Design of the Year Award at the 16th edition of the Grands Prix du Design, this architectural gem stands tall at 365 Abraham Street, immersing itself within the vibrant tapestry of Quebec City’s Old Port. Spanning an impressive 37,490 sq. ft. across two and a half floors, these offices redefine modern workspace paradigms through innovative design and meticulous attention to detail.
Embracing Illumination: A Symphony of Light
The cornerstone of LemayMichaud’s vision was to infuse the Fasken offices with a sense of modernity and vibrancy while preserving an air of sophistication and refinement. Adorned with floor-to-ceiling windows on every side, the building’s exposed concrete structure serves as a canvas for natural light to dance freely. The upper levels, bathed in sunlight, offer breathtaking vistas of Quebec City’s iconic landmarks, including the Gare du Palais and the picturesque Old Port. This seamless integration of interior and exterior spaces creates an ambiance of serenity and vitality, setting the stage for productive collaboration and inspired innovation.
Harmonizing Modernity with Timeless Elegance
Central to the design narrative is the awe-inspiring architectural staircase, a visual symphony encased within a luminous yellow glass cube. Serving as the vertical axis that unites the three levels, this architectural marvel pays homage to the city’s nocturnal charm, mirroring the luminescent hues of its evening skyline. Complemented by a minimalist black and white palette, the interiors exude an aura of sophistication and timelessness, accentuated by meticulously curated furnishings and materials. The strategic placement of black and white cubic volumes delineates distinct workspaces, fostering a sense of privacy amidst the open layout.
Honoring Tradition: The Lawyers’ Library
Step into the Lawyers’ Library, a sanctuary steeped in history and tradition, where echoes of a bygone era resonate with timeless allure. Infused with a touch of nostalgia, this sacred space pays homage to the rich heritage of legal craftsmanship, evoking memories of classic English-style libraries with its vintage accents. From ornate lamps to bespoke furnishings, every element exudes an air of elegance and reverence, seamlessly blending the past with the present.
