Cháo Hotel in Gaozhuang: Dream Theater by Funs Creative

Nestled in the heart of Peacock City in Gaozhuang, Cháo Hotel emerges as an intriguing interplay of modern minimalism and vintage nuances. Designed by Funs Creative Design Consultant under the guidance of lead designer Robin Luo, the project invites guests to step into a space where artful curation meets thoughtful functionality. With its 2000? layout, the hotel aims to offer a balanced retreat that respects local geography while reinterpreting the Bauhaus spirit of modernism.

Design Vision and Architectural Approach

At the core of Cháo Hotel’s design is the concept of a dream theater. The project’s architects sought to create an environment that isn’t just visually striking but also functionally attuned to a modern lifestyle. Embracing a neutral yet refined aesthetic, the design merges clean, minimalist lines with subtle vintage touches. The design philosophy reflects the belief that interior spaces should offer a refined and comfortable atmosphere—a sentiment echoed by Christian Liaigre’s perspective on interior design.

Innovative Interior Spaces

The hotel’s layout unfolds like a well-rehearsed performance. Upon entering, guests are greeted by a lobby where natural wood textures and Irish green stone details create an ambient interplay of light and shadow. This area sets the stage for the rest of the hotel, introducing a harmonious blend of vintage elements and modern design. The guest rooms continue this narrative, each one crafted to feel like a private dreamscape. With layouts that adhere to the principle of “form follows function”, the interiors feature modern color palettes juxtaposed with vintage details. Custom-made furnishings and carefully selected artworks turn everyday hallways into unexpected galleries, encouraging a relaxed yet stimulating experience.

A Nuanced Blend of Modernity and Locality

Cháo Hotel is not only a showcase of
modern design techniques but also a tribute to its location. The design team paid close attention to the local context of Gaozhuang, ensuring that the hotel’s aesthetics resonate with the surrounding cultural and architectural landscape. This thoughtful integration is evident in every detail—from the delicate interplay of materials to the balance between indoor spaces and scenic outdoor views of the Lancang River. The result is a design that speaks both to the global language of modernism and the unique character of its locale.

Experiencing the Multi-Functional Spaces

Beyond its visual appeal, Cháo Hotel offers diverse spaces that cater to various moods and functions. The terrace, for instance, transforms into an open-air stage reminiscent of modern theater, complete with minimalist lightbox installations and cyberpunk-inspired seating arrangements. This versatile space can serve as both a vibrant gathering area and a tranquil spot for introspection. In this way, the building is not just a hotel but a multi-functional venue where every corner tells a story—whether it’s the quiet elegance of a guest room or the dynamic ambiance of a communal space.
