The new Montreal office of Made by Gather has been redesigned to create a comfortable and flexible workspace. Espazio Design led the project, blending modern ideas with a friendly, urban style. The design reflects the energy of New York along with the welcoming feel of Montreal, making it a great place for work and meetings.
Designing a Functional and Collaborative Workspace
The office now covers 8,000 square feet on the top floor of 1801 McGill College. The layout is open, with no fixed desks, so everyone can choose where to work. There are also meeting rooms and quiet areas for focused tasks. This design helps encourage teamwork and makes the space very flexible.
Urban Energy Meets Thoughtful Curation
Inspired by its Manhattan roots, the design uses a cool, industrial look. Simple materials, strong lighting, and bold artwork create an energetic space. Large windows let in natural light and showcase views of downtown Montreal. This mix of styles makes the office feel modern and inviting.
Optimizing Space for Versatility
A study by Espazio Design showed that the original plan for 10,000 square feet could be trimmed to 8,000 square feet without losing any function. This change saved both space and money. Key areas include a multifunctional showroom that also acts as a reception, a high-tech test kitchen with two prep islands, and dedicated photo studios for product displays. Each area is designed to support different activities.
Infusing Feng Shui for a Harmonious Environment
The project also uses Feng Shui ideas to create a balanced space. Rounded furniture edges, carefully chosen lighting, and metal arches help maintain a smooth flow of energy. This attention to detail makes the office a place where employees can feel both comfortable and productive.
