The concept is well defined through the name of the restaurant, especially because the restaurant is managed by blinds and sponsored by the foundation mira. Site selection, accessibility and interior planning were the guidelines for the concept, selected to be approved by the crsss. The challenge was in the organization of two (2) types of circulation: the public and the blind waiters. The sensitive approach is perceived through the floor textures and dividing low walls.

SHH Revamps Cafe Liberty, London

Here’s the latest project by architects and designers SHH, a fast-turnaround revamp of the second floor café at iconic London department store Liberty. It’s a small but cute story – not one of their largest projects, but a bit of a little gem!

Architects and designers SHH have revamped Café Liberty, the 60-cover, second floor restaurant at London’s iconic Liberty department store on Regent Street, which was originally constructed in 1924 using the timbers of two ships (HMS Impregnable and HMS Hindustan). The fast-turnaround, tight-budget project was commissioned by the leisure creative team at Compass Group UK & Ireland, the catering company now operating the restaurant, and has radically changed the look and feel of the space, re-integrating it into the style and spirit of the original Arts & Crafts building – one of London’s finest and most distinctive retail environments – thanks to a number of choice vintage and contemporary interventions.
