Designed by Zaha Hadid (one of famous architects that I like most), the construction of Eli & Edythe Broad Art Museum is reported to begin in March 2010 and is due for completion two years later. Encased with glass and metal pleats, the 3-storey building will house 18,000 square feet of exhibition space, an education centre, museum shop, visitor café and staff offices.
Designed by Boogertaman + Partners as the center of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, the Soccer City Stadium utilizing concrete products extensively, both as complex structural elements as well as for aesthetic finishes. And the project won the “Concrete in Architecture award” for the innovative culturally identifiable form of the calabash (African pot) which stimulates a truly African image to the rest of the world.
Sited at Dubai Marina, the 23 Marina residential tower is expected to top out in early 2009. When finished, it could be the world’s first tower with 57 swimming pools in a single building. Consisting of 288 apartments, this building is being developed by Hircon International.
23 Marina is a 395 metre tall residential building, now under construction, that will rise 89 floors above ground. It�s been designed by the International Building Centre with roughly octagonal floorplates and a 64 metre tall spire above the main structure that helps turn it into what looks like a giant pencil with typical Dubaiesque cladding of blue and white.
Designed by New York-based architects, Hani Rashid and Lise Anne Couture of Asymptote, the construction of Strata Tower in Abu Dhabi just begun and scheduled for completion in three years. This 24-stories tower will be the tallest building in the Al Dana precint at a height of 160 meters.
