Museum of Polish History, Warsaw / by Design Initiatives

The proposed hybrid structure of MPH is a footbridge, park and building, all three integrated and coherent with the surrounding park environment. Our proposal for the MPH facility is a synergy of nature and history and was inspired by the peculiar Polish topography of gently rolling fields and plains. Our inclination is towards creating a Museum of History dug underground where the local historical values are naturally preserved. The morphology of MPH was influenced by the idea of history as a process of constant transformation. Presented is only current portion of that continuous process.

Casa de Uno, Monterrey / by Dear Architects

From a practical perspective, it is to notice how shelter and intimacy are achieved on this specific construction that raises from a quoin, long and narrow, lot. Casa de Uno envelope recalls the notion of a back that bends over to protect against “the inhospitable of the times to do”; and for the one that knows how to observe, it allows him to sense an intimacy without distractions.

This is another project from Atelier Zündel & Cristea — the Orthodox Center, in Paris 7e (75). Proposed for Russian Federation in a Competition 2010, the project has an estimated construction cost of 15 M€ (ex VAT). Gross area: 5750 m². Mission: Concept proposal. Program: Orthodox church, cultural center, and offices.

Olson Kundig Architects Wins Two National AIA Housing Awards

American Institute of Architects (AIA) has honored two projects by Olson Kundig Architects. Art Stable and 1111 E. Pike have each received the 2011 National Housing Award in the Multifamily Living category.
