Architectural Book: Artists’ Studios MJ Long

mjlongbookartiststudio1.jpg

Artists’ Studios showcases some of the personal work of architect and interior designer MJ Long. Long’s high profile projects include The National Maritime Museum in Cornwall, the award-winning extension to Pallant House Gallery in Chichester, and the celebrated Ivy and Quo Vadis restaurants in London.

Artists’ Studios provides a rare glimpse into Long’s more intimate projects—focusing on her studio designs for an impressive portfolio of artists, including Frank Auerbach, Sir Peter Blake, Paul Huxley and RB Kitaj.

Since 1976, MJ Long has designed a number of purpose-built artists’ studios, all designed to maximise the amount of natural daylight, whilst simultaneously reflecting the eclectic personalities of the artists. Long’s beautiful and personal designs are stimulated by each artist’s intense interest in their working environment—an interest which has inspired Long to produce some of her most imaginative and colourful spaces, collected together here for the first time.
