Designed by Austrian architect Coop Himmelb(l)au, the Art Museum Strongoli will stand high on top of the Motta Grande in Calabria, Italy. When complete, the building will mix the use of flexible exhibition spaces, a small “multi-hall” and a panorama restaurant.

The aim of the project was to revitalize a dismissed industrial area with a residential building. The challenge was to work within the parameters of good design and a low budget to provide the city with quality architecture while respecting the commercial space requirements of the client.
The resulting project provides a substantial architectural impact with respect to the smaller buildings of the area that are characterized by a broad range of building styles.

Designed by Foster+Partners, the Hermitage Plaza project incorporates two 323-metre-high buildings which is crowned as the tallest mixed-use towers in Western Europe. Expected to be completed in 2014, the two towers accommodate a hotel, spa, panoramic apartments, offices and serviced apartments, as well as shops at the base.

Group 41 Inc. (www.group41inc.com), a San Francisco-based design firm, has long been experimenting with shipping container design. Besides recently winning a Lifecycle award and submitting a shipping container design to the Google 10 to 100, the company is currently working on a large multi-family development in Utah that is to be entirely constructed out of shipping containers. drdharchitects has won the international competition for a new 7,350m² concert hall and 5,500m² library in Bodo, Norway. The Bodo Kulturhus and Library will consist of two public buildings; a new city library (5,500m²) and a three-auditorium concert hall (7,350m²), creating a new cultural centre for the Norwegian coastal city. The results of the competition were announced in Bodo, Norway on 27 February. drdharchitects beat five other practices to win the invited competition, including CF Moller, Medplan, General Architecture, Langdon Reis Zahn and Lundgaard & Tranberg.
