Blundell House by Air Architeture

guest house for a Buddhism expert in Brentwood, California.

The guest house for a Buddhism expert has been built in Brentwood, California. The design was made by François Perrin of Air Architecture with the concept of self-sufficient in energy by utilizing photovoltaic panels and wind turbines. The reports said that the similar structures will be build in Taiwan and Sri Lanka.

The project is using an “air” insulation, which is a void in between the wood frame and the translucent skin that protects the interior (the anthropologist’s collection) from the cold and the heat. The project is also using cross ventilation from the specific position of the opening and the operable skylight on the roof to cool down the building in extreme summer heat, catching the ocean’s breeze in the afternoon through the operable skylight.

Unique Structure #5: Residence Antilia, India

Residence Antilia India

Among the top 9 structure mentioned by Syed Mobin Architects, the Residence Antilia is one of them. Located in India, the construction has begun on Residence Antilia despite opposition from those who see it as an ‘excessive’ design in a city where more than 65% of the population live in slums. Politics aside and after you recover from the initial shock of seeing a skyscraper that resembles an ikea cd rack, the building actually looks like it may succeed as a stunning, unique, green piece of architecture.

Continuing what we have talked about the top unique structure mentioned by Syed Mobin Architects, now lets see the fourth structure, Regatta Hotel, Jakarta. Taking on a nautical theme, the developers say the 10 smaller towers represent sailing boats whilst the larger building is ‘The Lighthouse’. It’s the lighthouse that steals the show for us, possibly the most incredible looking structure we’ve seen for a long time. If it ends up looking anything close to these pictures we’ll be impressed.
